West Central Area Knights' fastpitch softball team receives #7 seed in Sub-Section 6A-South

The West Central Area Knights' girls faspitch team was seeded number seven in the 10-team south half of Section 6A.

They face #10-seed Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday, May 25, at 3:00pm at the Ashby high school diamond. If they win, they would take on the #2-seed Ashby Arrows at the same field at 5:00pm the same day.

Bertha-Hewitt is the number one seed.

The championship round of Sub-Section 6A-South takes place on Thursday, May 25, at the Brandon ball diamond. More on that will follow next week.

WCA boys golf, fastpitch, and baseball updates - Fastpitch suffers first loss of the season, held to one hit by Ashby's Haley Ness

  • Knights fastpitch:
The West Central Area Knights fastpitch team was cuffed at the plate by Ashby junior Haley Ness in a non-conference 1-0 loss to the Arrows on Thursday night.

WCA suffered 15 strikeouts at the plate.

Ashby improved to 5-2 overall with the win, while the Knights fall to 2-1 overall.

  • Knights baseball:
In their first game of the Morris Tournament, the WCA Knights baseball team lost an early 2-0 first inning lead to state-ranked MACCRAY on Friday night in a 15-2 loss. MACCRAY (7-1 overall) is the defending Class A state champions and ranked #6 in the latest Class A coaches' poll.

The Knights fall to 0-4 overall with the loss and will face the host Tigers and Pelican Rapids in the Saturday games of the tournament.

  • Knights boys golf:

In a Heart O' Lakes Conference boys golf meet hosted by West Central Area on Thursday night, Knights senior Logan Pfingsten shot a 36 to earn the fourth place medal in a meet held at Tipsinah Mounds, Elbow Lake.

Hawley's Brett Syverson fired a one under par 34 to take medalist honors in the first HOL meet of the year. Hawley also finished first as at team with a 148 total.
