The Chokio-Alberta/Herman-Norcross Spartans' fastpitch team lost in the quarterfinal round of the Sub-Section 3A-North tournament today at Dawson. Ranked fifth in the sub-section, the Spartans faced #4-seeded Yellow Medicine East, who defeated them 5-0.
YME went on to defeat the #1-seeded Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks 4-3.
CAHN finishes the season 9-5 overall and 9-3 in the Pheasant Conference, good for second place.
Up at Ashby, the West Central Area Knights' girls fastpitch team won the play-in round of Sub-Section 6A-South, defeating #10-seeded Hillcrest Lutheran Academy by a 6-1 score. Senior Caitlin Peterson was the winning pitcher for the Knights.
With the win over HLA, the Knights were matched up in the quarterfinals against #2-seed Ashby. The Arrows dominated WCA and cruised to a 10-0 win, ending the Knights' fastpitch season.
The WCA Knights' baseball team lost its bid for their second win of the season by a 6-3 outcome against Hancock.
